Show Time(Seebo)

As always the trip through the rift made her stomach tingle as if a million butterflies were trying to escape however, this time, with him, it didn’t seem so bad. They walked from the rift and turned to their right, it was an automatic reaction for her, as the way to the theater was in that direction.
The night here was peaceful, the temperature warm as it usually was though there seemed to be plenty of people and other creatures dwelling about, some just have come through the rift as they had. Most of them were headed in the same direction; the show had been sold out.
“Looks like a full turn out just by the ones arriving now.” Miranda whispered to Seebo as they walked. “Good, we worked hard for this and opening night is always just that much better when the seats are full.
There was no electricity in Ever Night and so, the roads were lined with tall poles that had lanterns attached at their heads to light the way through the streets. There were horse drawn carriages meandering by and even though quite a peace filled night, the chatter from the many crowds added to the rest of the sounds. They were still a few blocks form the theater, a short walk down the cobbled street.
“We should be plenty in time.” She stated, her mind beginning to move into performance mode as they walked, thinking and remembering her every move on stage, it was usual for any performer to do just before a show, and Miranda was no exception.
A couple walked past them, the lady turned and smiled at Miranda and Seebo. “Good luck tonight Miranda.” She said and then they moved on.
Several others watched them as they passed, whispers of excitement from some, each time Miranda would notice, she’d smile back and give them a little wave. She was well known in Ever Night, her shows always drew a crowd. This one, a play, was by far her biggest yet and so people were quite excited and expectations were high. It was written by one of the most prominent playwrights in Ever Night, a vampire born of the theater by the name of Doric Von Marko. That combined with Miranda landing the lead roll, it was certain to be a hit so naturally, everyone who could, was going to be there.

“You seem pretty popular here Miranda.” Seebo said with a smile as he looked at her after seeing all the people in front of the theatre who were all in such anticipation of her performance. “And you call yourself a nobody.” He continued with a little laugh. “I get to walk into the crowd with my arm around the star.” He said proudly after a short pause and pulled Miranda closer against himself.
Evernight was easily Seebo’s favorite realm. The place had a certain air about it that was just completely classic. The mystic beings of the world had obviously had a sustainable balance there despite the more often than not, evil tendencies of many of them. The way technology didn’t work in Evernight appealed to the thief king quite a lot, not only for the purposes of work, but also for a more natural appreciation of the world. He couldn’t help but look around the streets as they walked. He did it every time he went there, looked at the lamps hanging above the streets and the wagons led by horses on the roads.
“Looks like everyone here knows they’re in for a wonderful show tonight.” He finally continued after a few moments of silence. “I know I’m looking very forward to it myself.” He continued with his bright smile. “But I guess you should head for the back room now eh.” He finally said, suggesting the time where the two would have to head their separate ways.

Miranda grinned, even blushed slightly at his comment of her being the star. Yes, it was true, though she still didn’t feel as though she should be doted over in any way, she was just doing what it was she loved to do and nothing more.
“Thanks.” She told him as he pulled her in closer, as they made their way to the front of the line.
When their feet stopped, Miranda looked about once, to get a feel of how many were still standing behind them and then, she leaned in, giving Seebo a kiss on the cheek, there were more than a few eyes on them, and certainly some depressed looks as many a guy figured out they had no chance. She smiled as she then turned to the back of the Theater.
“Just give that paper to the man inside, he’ll seat you, and then well, whatever you decide after that if fine I am certain.” She grinned at him again. “Yes, I should get going, dress and makeup, what fun.” She said in a sarcastically amused tone.
She never did like the entire theater makeup that was always to be applied before any show; it was heavy and quite annoying. She preferred no makeup, or very little as the case may be. “I’ll see you at intermission, here…” She handed him another piece of paper, this one had ‘Back Stage Pass’ written on it. “I won’t be able to come out, but you can come back and see me then, if you want.” She told him, once more lighting up her face with a bright warm smile. “Well, ok, I’ll see you then.” She told him and then turned and walked toward the back of the theater to wards the actor’s entrance.

“I’ll be there.” He replied with a big grin on his face after Miranda handed him the back stage pass. After Seebo’s arms gradually slid off from around Miranda’s waist as she walked away, he turned to look at the crowd before heading inside. He even made it a point to move his eyes and even his head as he looked about, allowing people to see where he was looking. He flashed his eyes across many men who had gotten that disappointment, that crushing of their hopes when they saw Miranda kiss Seebo on the cheek. He had seen them all, and flashed a wide grin back each of them.
After making his proud little display, Seebo turned again and walked into the theater, giving his ticket to the man inside. He was led to his seat in the front and center, just as Miranda had said. He sat quietly there with a huge smile on his face and his back stage pass held in both hands like a small boy cherishing his prized possession for the moment as he stared up at the stage in eager anticipation of the show.

Miranda walked through the entrance and down the hall to her dressing room. There wasn’t anyone in the hall that was not a part of the show in some way or the next, people scurried around, making last minute corrections to their outfits, some still even running over their lines. Miranda always loved the feel, just before a big show, the apprehension, the excitement and the air so thick with anticipation that one could cut through it with a knife. She smiled and whistled as she walked to her door and then after turning the handle, she pushed it open and stepped in, closing the door behind her, leaving the noise of the others where they belonged, away from her.
Her costume for the night was crimson red; she would be the only one in that color, the others in black. It was fashioned much like her white costume she was known for during her individual shows, though instead of a top hat, her brow would be adorned with black diamonds that draped over her forehead and then would disappear under her locks of raven hair. She would wear a pair of long black boots with crimson lace covering the backs and sides and her nails would be painted as well in a dark crimson color.
She commenced to dressing as soon as she got in the room, and then, her hair, then finally, that all too hated makeup, but it was important, as she was playing a vampire roll, and would need to be pale in appearance from head to foot, what ever skin showed. When she was finished with herself, she heard a knock at the door and opened it to find the studio makeup artist standing there, just on time as usual, Miranda always marveled at how she always seemed to know exactly how long it took for each actor to be ready for her final touchups.
Another ten minutes and Miranda was set.
“You all ready for this Miranda?” Came a slightly feminine male voice from behind her.
“Yes Doric, I don’t think I could get any more so.” She replied and then turned around to a pair of outstretched arms.
Miranda took his hug and returned it, he was somewhat of an eccentric piece of work, but she adored the ground that this old vampire walked on, as did any who ran in the theater circles.
“Well then girl, you better get up there, the curtain pulls in …” He widened his eyes. “Oh my, three minutes.. scoot, scoot…” She moved her along, patting her behind like a little girl he was sending out the door to play.
Miranda giggled and moved into position along with the rest of the actors, dancers and singers that had been hand picked by the Playwright.
Doric made his way through them all and stepped through the still closed curtains and to the edge of the stage. He was a tall vampire, standing a good 7 feet, his figure was massive, not fat by any means, but very muscular, something that totally contrasted his voice.
“Hello, welcome one and all to Tonight’s play, I truly hope you enjoy our little show, and look forward to seeing most of you after, for the opening night party, that will ensue.” He began, in his feminine male voice. “I want to first, thank you all for coming, and then without further ado.. let me open the story…”
He moved on, telling a quick synopsis of the story line, an intro that he was well known for, the crowed hushed, and soon, the lights began to dim as he moved to the side and the curtains opened…

Seebo’s attention went entirely to the vampire man who walked out on stage. He paid close attention and worked very hard to avoid his habit of paying attention to everything else at the same time. His eyes went wide and lit up, like that small boy again just as if he was completely lost to that child inside himself. He was still holding his back stage pass in both his hands just above his lap, never putting it down or even resting his hands against his legs. He held the pass, in both his hands, above his lap and almost against his stomach or chest. He would hold it there more than likely until the intermission when he got to use it and go see Miranda. The enormous, childlike grin also never left his face as he stared in complete attention at the stage.

And so the play began, Miranda leading the rest of the entourage onto the stage, her crimson colored body moving elegantly to the sounds of the music as the singers began to tell the story of the nights play.
The play was not all singing and dance; Miranda had her role to play as well. By the second half of the first sequence of the play, her character would have been loved by the entire audience, as the vampire elder who put her own life at stake for the lives of an entire town of humans. The play, though no one but the vampires and any who studied their history would know, was based on a true-life story of Miranda’s character; a story where once an entire race of humans was spared due to her own selfless actions.
At the end of the first half of the play, Miranda and the rest of the dancers closed it with a dance depicting the chase and near destruction of Miranda’s character, ending with her in the middle of a swarm of black that completely overcame her crimson presence when the curtain shut and the lights of the theater began to brighten once more and Doric once more moved to the center of the stage to massive applause.
“Thank you, thank you.” He inclined his head to the audience. “It’s intermission time, time to get your refreshments and for those of you who have been invited, please, move backstage as I am certain our actors would love to see you now, as they too take there break. “I will however need everyone back in their seats in half an hour, so go, what are you waiting for.” She motioned with his hands, sweeping them wide and dramatically as he too turned and walked behind the curtain.

Seebo sat and watched with glee, paying complete and total attention to everything that was going on on-stage. his eyes shifted about shortly after the curtains closed over the stage, eagerly anticipating what was to happen next. he thief king, who seemed then to be just a boy in an older man's body, straightened out and sat straight up, his eyes open wide in excitement when the man on stage invited the guests to the back of the stage.
With his backstage pass still in both his hands, Seebo stood and walked hurriedly to the door leading behind the stage. when he got to the doorway to the back room, Miranda caught his eye very swiftly from the back of the room, causing him to hesitate, looking stupid as the man at the door waited to see his pass that he still held in two hands in front of his stomach or chest. "Oh, here." he finally said awkwardly as he excitedly handed the man his pass and walked into the room.
"Miranda, you're amazing." he said excitedly through the crowd as he was still on his way to meeting up with her. "And you would stand out enough if everyone here were colorblind." he added when he finally reached her, enormous smile plastered over his face. "You look absolutely gorgeous." He couldn't stop smiling, and couldn't help but feel like the little boy that he had previously told her that he was inside.

Miranda looked about as she stepped through the stage doors and into the back room. The room was filling with actors, dancers and as well guests of said characters. She was stopped several times on her way to the main room, pieces of paper shoved at her chest with pens to sign an autograph. She took each one graciously and with a friendly smile, handing each one back to its owner with a thank you and another smile. Finally, she was able to break through the throng of admirers and stopped, just to the right of the doorway that lead to the main room. She turned, just in time to see him standing there, his pass in front of him like some little child holding to his most prized possession, she smiled, even might have laughed slightly, her dark orbs sparkling with joy.
“Thank you Seebo.” She blushed slightly after he had made his way through the crowd to be at her side again. “So, how do you like the play so far?” She asked.
There was no doubt in her mind that he found her part amazing, as he had put it, but she wanted to know about the play in general in that question. She was very excited about how things were going on their opening night as well, for not all too often does everything go so smoothly in the first half of any opening night play, but tonight seemed to be quite different. Everything, down to the lighting seemed to be perfect, the stage hands seemed to be doing their jobs, and doing them right and even the wardrobe personal seemed to have their collective shit together, that was something of a problem in most plays as it was often very difficult to make certain that each actors change of costume was ready for them to change into after any number of acts, but all of it was going perfectly.
Miranda leaned over on her tiptoes and put her hand on his chest then kissed his cheek softly softly. “And thank you again, you really think I stood out that much?” She asked as she rested back on her feet again.

"The play is fantastic." Seebo replied, putting an arm around Miranda's waist and leaning in to kiss her on the cheek. "Great story." he continued, watching her eyes, her lips, her whole face and all of her reactions to anything and everything. even as he spoke, Seebo was completely mesmerized by her. "I think i've herad this story before, only,,," he paused a moment, trying to think of the tale. "This isn't a fiction story, is it?" he then asked, starting to think that he had heard of the great tale before as a recounting of ancient history.
"Oh, and Miranda," he started again, "You stand out anywhere, let alone when you perform." he was being completely honest as always. Miranda's presence could always be felt anywhere. Even if it weren't for her looking so incredible, the way she performed was enough for anyone to take note. Her beauty as well, apart from the brilliant crimson dress she wore was more than enough to catch anyones eye.
"This play is very well done, on everyone's parts."he continued. "I'm very glad you invited me to come see it." he finished and then kissed her on the cheek again.

Miranda’s smile grew when he kissed her back the first time on her cheek. She felt his lips touch her soft skin and they left a warming feeling that grew and spread through her body like a soft summer breeze. The hand he had placed around her waist, as always brought her an instant feeling of security as well; something about his touch seemed to always bring her that feeling.
His second kiss was enough to make her want to melt in his hands, right there, though her professionalism prevented it. She did however; return his second kiss to her cheek with another of her own.
“Thank you again Seebo, you are far too kind.” She stated and then continued to answer his question about the story. “Yes, it is a telling of History, as a matter of fact I am told that the vampire I play is still alive this day and somewhere in here watching, though he won’t tell me who she is.” She almost pouted. “I hope I am doing a good enough job to please her though.” She finished, her eyes taking a massive sweep of the main room.
“Tsk, tsk Miranda you won’t find her and to answer your question, she is quite delighted.” Came Doric’s voice from behind her. “Glad you like out play sir, I do hope you will find the ending just as fantastic as the beginning though.” He continued, the large vampire’s eyes moving to Seebo, looking him up and down as any father would of his little girl’s boyfriend.
Miranda laughed and turned her head to see Doric staring at Seebo. “Oh, Seebo, this is Doric, and vise versa.” She introduced the two of them.
Doric came about with graceful steps to Miranda’s side. “Pleasure to meet any of our Miranda’s friends.” He greeted with a lavish bow and then an offered hand.

Seebo grinned widely as Miranda gave him a kiss on the cheek in return to the one he gave her. He really was like a little boy with his schoolyard crush. "My pleasure Sir." Seebo said with his giant smile still plastered on his face as he took the man's hand for a good greeting. "Doric,,, Von Marko?" he asked, just to be certain. "I've heard of you before, but i don't tend to get out to shows very often."
"How could she not be pleased?" He then said, looking at Miranda again and then back at Doric. "I don't recall the story as well as it's being depicted here, but i haven't ever heard it being told in such depth. You've done a wonderful job Doric, and I'm looking forward to the second half. You have an amazing team of performers here. I Believe they're all destined for great careers in the industry."

”The very same.” Replied Doric with another bow and this time a great grin on his lips that would reveal a rather long set of canines. ”It is a shame, we certainly would love to see more of you, though I have a feeling we just may…” The vampire stated and then turned and winked at Miranda who blushed.
“Oh do stop Doric, you are too presumptuous.” She teased, giving the large vampire a nudge with her shoulder, playfully.
”Do you really think? I do hope you are correct, we have all worked very hard to make this as passionate as it was, even if none of us were actually there.” Doric replied to Seebo’s comment on how the elder would indeed be pleased.
“Thank you Seebo.” Miranda then interrupted at his comment about how well the performers were. “We all work to gain what we believe the audience will enjoy, and appreciate your comments, as does Doric, if I am not being to forward in assuming, of course.” She winked at the vampire and wrapped her arm about Seebo’s waist, tightly, laying her head on his shoulder slightly.
”No, not at all my dear, dear child, but I am taking up your time. It truly has been my pleasure, Seebo, I hope to, like I have stated before, see more of you in the very near future.” He said in way of farewell. “And Miranda…” He simply smiled warmly at her, something passed between them and then he turned and walked away.

“I know so sir.” Seebo said in reply to the play write with a nice smile and a nod. “But if he’s ‘too presumptuous’,” he continued, turning his eyes to Miranda as she rested her head on his shoulder, “does that mean he’s wrong?” he gave a little pouting face and a very slight chuckle among his fake look of worry.
“I certainly hope to see more of you too Doric.” Seebo then said, turning his attention back to the man before he left. “I fear what it would mean for me if I won’t, let alone to see more of your wonderful plays.” He concluded at that, allowing the man to wander off as he held Miranda closely around her waist and ran his hand just a little to rub her side gently as he did.

Miranda chuckled slightly. “Of course he isn’t wrong.” She replied and then buried her face momentarily into Seebo’s chest as she scrunched her face up slightly with her forward comment. When she looked back up again, it was just in time to catch Doric’s glance at her. They held eyes for a few moments and it seemed that Miranda stopped breathing at that point for a few breaths and then Doric winked a the two and was lost in the crowd.
“I truly am glad you are enjoying yourself Seebo.” She stated, lifting her head from his shoulder and looking up into his eyes.
His eyes, a place she could find herself lost if she allowed it. That was a feeling she smiled after.
“Do you want something to drink?” She asked then allowing her gaze to release itself form his and turn towards the refreshment table where it seemed the poor thing would soon collapse form the weight of the food and drink supplied for the staff and their friends or family.
