Kinnara sat in the words her back against an old oak tree reading a book in perfect silence, her long, shiny, dark locks of raven hair cascaded down over her left shoulder as her head tilted slightly that way, her eyes moving over the words on the pages as if she would die had she not read fast enough. The book rested on her light blue summer-dress that was laying over her knees as she had then bent her bare feet, shoes cast off some time ago, her hands held the book, one poised and ready to turn a page as soon as her eyes finished the last word that lay printed there, her toes curled up form time to time catching the sift leaves that lay scattered on the forest floor, perhaps they did so when something important or very exiting happened in the story that had her so entrapped. There were scratches, long and still open on her left arm, perhaps form some animal that looked rather fresh and had not yet healed, anyone knowing she was Lycan, would know that the only way they would not have healed yet, was the fact that they were made with silver tipped claws, though those looking at her who didn’t know, it would looks as though she had either fought off or had played too rough with a pet dog, or pack dog, either way.
She turned the page of her book, the sound of the paper moving seemed somehow loud in the quiet of the forest glen, and her eyes darted quickly to the words again, nothing else seeming to matter at all at this point. There was a sudden cracking of fallen limbs somewhere in the forest, though she gave it no outward notice, her mind working to keep on the story she was reading, perhaps to get her away from her won reality, perhaps to simply entertain herself away from the bustle of others, only she knew that.
At one point, after several more pages had been turned she did finally look up at the sun light that shown down so brightly from above and as it caught her brilliant icy stare, her eyes seemed to glisten with the life of sapphires shining in the sun. After she had looked up however, she looked back down at the ground beside her, plucked a golden leaf from the floor and placed it in between the pages of her book to mark her place and closed it, lying it beside her now as she leaned further back against the tree and stared out at nothing, allowing her knees to straighten and her hands to lay silently on her lap, as if taking in the total silence and relaxing moments she had found in the forest.
Kinnara had been attacked by the same group of her own brethren as always the night before, the deep scratches down her left arm were the end result of the attack. They had somehow managed to fit silver tips to metal, perhaps dipped them so that the silver wasn’t touching them, they never had much else to do these days besides attacking her, those who still wouldn’t accept the girl who wasn’t supposed to be. This happening the night before brought her about to take in this time alone, she read the book to escape her thoughts but as they always had in the past, they would continue to do as such still and now. She thought of the face that had saved her that fateful night, no she didn’t blame him for saving her life, he had thought he was doing a good thing, she had not told him she’ d been bitten, and by the time she’d gotten up enough courage to say anything, it was too late, so if anyone was to blame for her change, she felt it was her own self. She wondered, night after night since then however, if he was still out here some place, still doing what he did and wondered if she would ever see him again and that perhaps he could find her a way to protect herself from what was now, her own kind.
