The Story

The year was 2089 when it happened, the second time in the earths history when a rift in time and space opened up to admit travel through to other realms. It started out very small, the first hole appearing in a small city known as Suddenly in North America. It was nothing at first, just thought to be another phenomena caused by pollution and the diminished ozone. Soon though scholars where called in as the scientists were baffled, they had to find out what was happening and fast, as there had been several devastating earthquakes in the Middle Eastern Countries that had killed literally millions already, they thought that perhaps this small rift, ranging the length of a football field and growing larger by the months, just might be linked to it but they couldn’t figure it out.
The Scholars took down their heavy volumes and began to go over page after dusty page until finally one man, a decrepit old geezer about in his late 80s dug deep into his library and came out with ancient scrolls. They were written in old Arabic and so would have to be deciphered before they could be read. Many a younger scholar chided him for this saying that they simply hadn’t the time for such frivolous things and that those old scrolls were probably just written by some crazy man anyway; they move forward without him.
It was The Vatican that nearly stopped the reading of those scrolls however as they knew what was happening and it would debase their entire religion should the truth come forward. However, despite their cries and rather serious threats, the United Nations came together and allowed the information brought forward. This was becoming a Military issue now, as the lives of billions of humans were at stake and so the Governments finally decided to go against the Church and uncover the truth for the sake of lives.
The Scrolls turned out to be an ancient journal of one man’s life in the time of what he called the linking of worlds. They were dated approximately one thousand years ago and here is what they had to say:
After the hole appeared in mid air different creatures began to immerge, some are not so friendly, creatures of hell, demons and vampires among the ranks to walk our earth.
We are now moving between the worlds, things aren’t as bad as they first seemed, though thousands of lives were lost at first, these new found worlds are incredible. I have seen humans wielding magic the likes if which took down mountains, spreading ice over the land with a single word, I have seen other creatures devoured by beasts so hideous that to even look upon them a man could go white.
This was the first scroll the second was much more elaborate in its telling of the new world.
Angels have been seen, one even came to me and introduced itself as my personal guardian, I have so many questions to ask.
No, there is no one God but a multitude of Gods, the Christian faith has fallen. I however am delighted to find that I have nothing to fear in death, less one of those demons should get a hold of my soul. Yes, there is a heaven, or rather there are heavens but there is also hell, the angles tell us that a war will take place in the near future to seal the demons away again, I fear for the loss of our Gods, how could any creature stand against such power as there is in those demonic beasts?
The Necromancers have created a monstrosity to hold over our world now, things are becoming much darker than anyone could imagine. They call these atrocities The Unchained, they are fearsome creatures with no rival, and hell will surely win.
The Elves have joined us, they are a simple creature, fair and beautiful but very mysterious, no one knows if they have always been on earth or not, I won’t ask, they won’t tell.
So many strange worlds, and I have only visited one, they call it Ever night, it is crawling with vampires but not the vampires of stories old, but stronger, faster and yes, vampires ca walk in the sun, they seem to enjoy the night more though, that place was beautiful, but often times beauty is a dangerous place to be.
The second scroll ended there, or what could be salvaged from the writing, so much had been lost, so many things to be known, gone faded over the years. The remainder of the scrolls told the story of a great war that took place in the end, the rifts had been sealed shut to never again open and all the creatures form each world were sucked back into their own realms either willingly or unwillingly it made no difference, they had no choice in the end.
Now, no one knows how or why the rifts had begun again but it would prove to be ten times worse this time around. Over the course of 5 years the Middle Eastern countries had been literally obliterated. Huge Mountains formed, the land became charred and barren, molten lava seeped through the to the surface. This place was considered Hell on Earth and shortly there after it was confirmed as the demonic creatures began to raise up fro the great cracks in the surface, tall spires shot up from the depths of the earth and our new neighbors completely moved in.
That small rift in the city of Suddenly stopped growing and people began to explore the new find soon, other creatures began to appear, the elves returned, but not just the wood elves this time, Drows, or Dark Elves as well began to come through that rift they said they came from a place known as Ever Night.
Many strange things began to happen to our world and now, after 100 years from the time the rift first appeared, what was once considered as fairy tales now was our reality. Magic was abroad in abundance, as were other mythical creatures, Griffons, Dragons and yes, even unicorns appeared as if from nowhere, the fantasy world of fairytale stories and the real world of earth are now one in the same.
Though there is no longer any weapons of mass destruction (Of science), some of the magic that is wielded from Mages and Demons or other creatures are here and they have proven over again that they are every bit a match for our guns as well some can be just as devastating as any nuclear weapon any of the human scientists had ever come up with.
This is the world we live in and the year is now 2194 the worlds are living together in harmony, or as harmoniously as they can, trade goes on between them and profit has been made, customs learned and powers gained. There doesn’t seem to be an end this time perhaps it is as it was meant to be those thousand years ago.
